Privacy Policy
Effective October 2026
HomeDB is a home maintenance log for Android. You use it to keep track of your homes, projects, tasks, maintenance history and photos. This policy explains what HomeDB collects, why, who processes it, and how you can delete it.
HomeDB doesn't sell your data, doesn't show ads and doesn't use your data for advertising.
What we collect
- Account details: your name and email address, and the time zone you choose for reminders.
- Home records: what you enter about your homes: addresses, setup questionnaire answers, home facts, projects, tasks, materials, maintenance reminders and history, and notes.
- Photos: photos you add and their captions. Photos may keep the metadata your camera wrote into them, which can include where the photo was taken.
- Sharing: the people you invite to a home, by email, and who added or completed each entry in a shared home.
- Notification settings: your reminder choices, and a push token for your device, which the app registers after you sign in. Push reminders are only sent if you turn them on.
- Crash reports: when the app crashes, a report with the device model, Android version, app version, the error details and an identifier for this install of the app. Crash reports don't contain your home records.
- AI assistants: if you connect an AI assistant (see below), we record which assistant created an entry.
How we use it
We use your data only to run HomeDB: to store and show your records, share homes with the people you invite, send the reminders you turn on, answer connected AI assistants, and fix crashes. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Connected AI assistants
You can connect an AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to your HomeDB account. You sign in and approve the connection yourself. Once connected, the assistant can read the homes, projects, tasks, reminders and facts you have access to, and can save changes after you confirm them. What the assistant does with that data is governed by its provider's privacy policy. You can disconnect an assistant at any time in the assistant's settings.
Who processes your data
HomeDB uses service providers for the following functions:
- Hosting and storage: runs the HomeDB server and stores the database, photos and backups.
- Sign-in: manages accounts and sign-in.
- Email delivery: sends reminder and invitation emails.
- Push notifications: delivers push reminders, which include a home's name, the number of items due and an internal home ID, using an identifier for this install of the app.
- Crash reporting: collects crash reports.
- Automated backups: runs the nightly backup job, which handles a copy of the database while it is copied to storage.
How long we keep it
- Your records are kept until you delete them or delete your account.
- Nightly database backups are kept for 30 days, so deleted data drops out of backups after about 30 days. The most recent backup is always kept, so if backups stop for a while, that backup stays until they resume.
- The crash reporting provider keeps crash reports and their install identifiers for 90 days, then begins deleting them.
- The push notification provider keeps the install identifier used for push reminders until it is deleted through that provider. Deleting your HomeDB account removes your push tokens from our server, but doesn't delete the identifier the provider holds.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account in the app, or ask us to delete it by email. See Delete your HomeDB account for the steps and exactly what is deleted.
Children
HomeDB is meant for adults and isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it on this page and change the effective date above. Significant changes will also be announced in the app or by email.
